Job Description

Overview: Pecora Corporation, a leading USA manufacturer of high-quality architectural weatherproofing products since 1862, is actively seeking a Product Development Lab Technician. This individual will play a key role in the formulation and testing of silicone and STPU-based sealants, coatings, and adhesives for applications in commercial construction and electronics industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of new products aligning with company growth objectives.
  • Build formulations, conduct testing, and meticulously record results.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Provide regular reports on project developments.
  • Operate analytical devices, balances, mechanical testers, viscometers, and lab mixers.
  • Grow into a product line expert, developing proficiency in process optimization and in-plant troubleshooting.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in formulating and compounding reactive, polymeric systems.
  • Proven ability to work independently in an R&D environment.
  • Familiarity with laboratory mixers.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with adhesives, sealants, or coatings.
  • Previous silicone sealant, adhesive, or coatings formula development experience.
  • Familiarity with related ASTM Specifications and Test Methods.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of industrial experience.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate laboratory instruments and mixing equipment.
  • Math proficiency.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong record-keeping and reporting skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Attention to detail and creativity.
  • Knowledge of R&D methods and procedures.
  • Well-organized and safety-conscious.
  • Quality-oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, product performance, and specifications.

Experience:

  • AAS or BS in Chemistry or comparable industry experience.
