Job Description

Location: Wilmington, NC (On-site; remote work may be available after probationary period) Compensation: $42,000 - $60,000 per year (based on experience)

Expected hours: 30–40 per week

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Paralegal with a strong background in North Carolina personal injury law. This full-time, on-site position is ideal for someone who thrives in a small-firm environment and wants to make a meaningful impact.

The ideal candidate will be well-organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a variety of legal and administrative responsibilities throughout both the pre-litigation and litigation phases.

Candidates must have experience in the areas of wrongful death, personal injury (including auto, motorcycle, and truck accidents), workers’ compensation, medical malpractice, and nursing home negligence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare litigation documents including pleadings, discovery, court forms, memoranda, letters, and other correspondence
  • Manage case files from intake through trial
  • Organize and summarize medical records and bills
  • Conduct legal and factual research
  • Prepare trial notebooks, binders, and exhibits
  • Schedule and communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, and investigating officers
  • Provide general administrative, clerical, and office support

Qualifications

  • Paralegal degree or NC State Bar Paralegal Certification (preferred)
  • At least 3 years of personal injury experience required; 10 years preferred
  • Must have experience in: wrongful death, personal injury (auto, motorcycle, truck accidents), workers’ compensation, medical malpractice, and nursing home negligence
  • Strong experience in both pre-litigation and litigation phases
  • Proficiency with legal software: NEOS (case management), Lexis Nexis or Westlaw, Adobe Pro, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx, and eCourts filing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time-management, organizational abilities, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and take initiative
