We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Clerk to join our clients team in Atwater. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing and collections and will be responsible for collecting payments from patients and third-party payers, resolving billing discrepancies, and ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding accounts.
Key Responsibilities:Perform collection activities related to patient accounts, including contacting patients regarding outstanding balances
Process and follow up on insurance claims with commercial insurers, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and other third-party payers
Verify and update patient account information for accuracy
Discuss financial matters professionally and compassionately with patients
Interpret and apply CPT and ICD-9 codes accurately
Resolve billing inquiries and disputes in a timely and courteous manner
Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an office or medical billing setting
At least 1 year of experience as a Patient Accounts Biller or in a similar role
Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
Strong understanding of commercial insurance, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and third-party billing/collection processes
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
