Heavy Civil Estimator - Earthwork

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Must Have's:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management OR Technical college degree with combined minimum of five years’ field and estimating experience
  • Experience with heavy civil construction estimating
  • Experience with estimating software , especially Carlson, HCSS, and Bluebeam

Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience with earthwork take-offs and self-perform estimating.

We’re seeking a skilled professional to join a growing team of builders, where your estimating expertise will directly impact high-profile projects in sectors like power & energy, petrochemical, healthcare, and public works.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in developing competitive proposals by accurately estimating general conditions, self-performed work, and subcontracted scopes. You’ll be reviewing drawings, RFPs, and specs to help drive winning bids and successful project execution.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil and industrial construction projects
  • Perform quantity take-offs with a focus on earthwork and self-performed scopes
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, RFIs, and RFP requirements
  • Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to gather accurate pricing
  • Support the development of general conditions and proposal documentation

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • (OR) a technical college degree with at least 5 years of combined estimating and field experience
  • Experience with heavy civil construction estimating , especially earthwork take-offs and self-perform work
  • Ability to work in both office and on-site environments, and travel or temporarily relocate as needed
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and technical documents
  • Experience with estimating software , especially Carlson, HCSS, and Bluebeam.
  • Strong planning, organization, and communication skills to work effectively within a team
