Position Overview: A well-established general contractor is seeking an experienced Federal Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for complex, high-profile federal projects across the Southeastern United States. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leadership in field supervision, a commitment to safety and quality, and deep knowledge of federal construction requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Champion and enforce a culture of safety; ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards on-site
Serve as the primary on-site representative, upholding a high standard of service, professionalism, and integrity
Open and secure the jobsite daily; maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
Coordinate all phases of construction, including logistics, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities
Develop and manage site logistics plans and project schedules
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved plans and specifications
Monitor daily progress and maintain detailed jobsite documentation, including logs and photos
Lead jobsite meetings, including daily huddles and weekly trade coordination
Communicate and follow up on RFIs, submittals, ASIs, and other project documents
Coordinate required inspections and assist with permitting as needed
Support project closeout activities, including punch list management
Collaborate with the project team to manage budgets and project costs
Conduct preparatory meetings with subcontractors before work begins
Supervise area superintendents and ensure full scope compliance by all subcontractors and vendors
Identify conflicts in construction progress and escalate for resolution
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
Equivalent relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Experience:
15 years of experience in federal construction
10 years of field supervision experience in a lead superintendent role
Skills & Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and team-building skills
Excellent communication, both verbal and written
Ability to manage multiple scopes and subcontractors simultaneously
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management platforms, and scheduling software
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Knowledge of Lean principles and federal compliance requirements
Understanding of construction methods, scopes of work, and documentation processes
Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
