Job Description

This position requires you to be bilingual in English and Spanish.

The EHS Manager oversees the development, implementation, and management of the site’s environmental, health, and safety systems in a proactive manner. This individual will be responsible for analyzing both leading and lagging indicators and implementing effective solutions as needed. The EHS Manager ensures compliance with government regulations and company policies while promoting continuous improvement. This individual will also support plant operations by educating employees on health and safety, monitoring EHS systems, and regularly engaging with employees in their work areas.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Environmental:

  • Compile and submit required logs and reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Alert managers and employees to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and other hazardous substances.
  • Identify and analyze sources of pollution and determine their effects on plant operations.
  • Collect and synthesize data from pollution emission measurements, radiation monitoring, atmospheric monitoring, meteorological and mineralogical data, and soil/water samples.
  • Determine the need for environmental permits and submit appropriate applications.
  • Review technical aspects of environmental projects, confer with project engineers to develop plans, coordinate activities, establish reporting procedures, and prepare progress reports.
  • Coordinate planning, testing, and operational phases to ensure successful project completion.
  • Engage with local regulatory agencies to stay informed on environmental standards, industry practices, and pollution abatement developments.
  • Submit all required reports to state and federal environmental agencies.
  • Maintain required licensing for environmental control equipment operations.
  • Provide technical assistance to agencies conducting environmental studies.
  • Manage on-site wastewater responsibilities, including reporting, hazardous/non-hazardous classification, and required documentation.

Safety:

  • Lead the development and implementation of health and safety programs to improve safety culture, reduce injuries, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor and lead the Safety Team and subcommittees.
  • Record and analyze observation and safety audit data, including corrective actions.
  • Lead the safety incident investigation process in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintain, update, and train employees on the Safety Manual.
  • Participate in safety and environmental onboarding for new hires.
  • Schedule and conduct safety training sessions and maintain corresponding records and materials.
  • Maintain a safety training matrix for all employees.
  • Develop accident prevention and loss control systems and evaluate effectiveness. Recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain liaison with external organizations such as fire departments, hospitals, and rescue teams.
  • Devise and conduct evaluations to improve safety programs.
  • Maintain an active role in community or industry safety groups and associations.
  • Log safety incidents in corporate logs, and OSHA 300, 301, and 301A forms.
  • Collect and submit data to OSHA and other relevant agencies.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with OSHA regulations and updates.
  • Represent the organization in community or industry environmental and safety programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental or safety-related field preferred.
  • 4–5 years of EHS Manager experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in environmental reporting (Air, Wastewater, Storm water).
  • Hazmat Operator Certification (40+ hours) and current First Aid certification required.
